The club is open to any 4th-8th grade Emereau students wanting to learn to play the sport of Ultimate Frisbee. The main goal of the club is to promote fair play, sportsmanship, problem solving and develop athletic skills.
The second goal of the club is being able to field one or more middle school teams. The teams may have an opportunity to scrimmage other schools and participate in the yearly NC Middle School Championships.
The club will meet once a week afterschool from 3:45-5pm, weather permitting.
Middle School Club Team
Students must be a 6-8th grader to play in any competitive matches with other schools. Currently 4th and 5th grade participants will NOT be allowed to play in any competitive games or official tournaments with other schools.

Ultimate Club

For the last three years Emereau Bladen 4th-8th grade students have had the opportunity to play afterschool as part of the Frisbee and Games Club. The club meets a couple times a week playing traditional games like volleyball, soccer, and kickball. They also learn and play non-traditional games like Capture the Flag, Ultimate Frisbee & dodgeball. This year our Aviators took flight and broke away from just playing afterschool. On Saturday, February 8, 2025 eight students and their families braved the elements and entered the “hot bed” of ultimate frisbee to participate in the Triangle Ultimate Middle School Championships. Over 39 boys and co-ed teams from North and South Carolina competed in three divisions for the right to be called champions.
Ultimate is a highly competitive game that takes speed, stamina and skill. Unlike most competitive sports, the game is self regulated, meaning there are no referees, players make foul calls and discuss the discrepancies. Ultimate uses a Spirit of the Game philosophy where the Golden rule is the guideline. The tournament offered a fun filled day with competition, laughter and friendship. Despite being the least experienced of the 24 teams in our division, our Aviators exemplified athletic skill and emotional resilience needed to advance the bracket round of 16. Unfortunately with our lack of experience we were vastly overmatched. Our Aviator community can be proud of these students who represented our school and community with maturity and sportsmanship.
All 4th-8th grade Emereau students are welcome to experience the wonderful game of Ultimate frisbee by participating in the afterschool club activities. As we look forward to next year's February tournament, the club director, Mr. Wiz, would love to send multiple middle school teams to Raleigh.
